Week in Review: Friday's Fave Five

Friday April 9, 2010
I’m still here! Our internet was down for DAYS this week, so the postings I had planned just didn’t happen. There’s always next week, so tune back in.

For now, welcome to Friday’s Fave Five, my chance to recall blessings of the week. If you’d like to join in, visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story and read all about how.

Here’s my list of Friday’s Fave Five:

1. Having my son back home. Last week, one of my faves was hearing his voice from Germany. Now I have him back in the nest. He took some incredible pictures and had a great time. I’m thankful he’s home.

2. Time to write. Believe it or not, having no internet was probably a blessing. It drove me to work on my novel, which I had vowed to do this Spring Break. I couldn’t research, but I had some research filed away that I could use, so I could keep writing – so I did. I have more to do, but I made significant progress.

3. Cooking. I love to cook when I have time. I don’t enjoy it so much when I’m tired from work and rushing home to get it on the table, etc. I tried three new recipes this week, and they all got the family seal of approval. (That’s rather unusual – they’re kind of in a rut when it comes to food.)

4. Books. I got a couple of great books this week, mostly as research for my novel and an article I’m working on. But what a find a great book is! I’m such a bibliophile.

5. New friends. It seems this happens all the time in the blogosphere, and I just love it! I found a blog last week that I’m anxious to share with moms, so tune back in and you’ll read all about it. (Here’s a little hint – It has great advice for moms of little ones.)

It’s been a great week off for me, and I almost dread going back to work. But I do look forward to seeing my friends’ and students’ faces on Monday. I love the people. And we can begin counting down to summer now!

What were your blessings this week?

I'm glad you got some writing in. Maybe the Internet being unavailable was a blessing in disguise. :-) I've been thinking I may need to reverse things: instead of getting on first and then trying to pry myself off to get things done, I ought to go get those things done first.

Glad your son made it back safely!

I don't enjoy cooking, either, when I am busy with other things, but I love when the family likes something new.

And good books are always a favorite!

I love hearing from the heart of a teacher. Now you have me curious...How old are your children.
When you said, Germany..I looked at you and could not believe it.
You look so young...
What kind of book are you writing?

I'm curious what your new books are. Do you keep a list on your blog?

How wonderful to have your son at home. Enjoy

Guess what I got internet but my screen insists on not showing anything. It's all black. I'm in an internet cafe right now typing this :) There can be advantages I agree. I'm also supposed to write something important; I'm hoping the absence of the internet will also push me to do other things. You have such a good week. I'm smiling at your book finds. They're always fun to me too.

I read your Boys and School: A New Study post and putting the tips into memory right now. Thanks for that and you have a great week ahead.

You have us all curious about your novel!

You are so right, cooking is much more fun when you don't have to do it after a long day at work. My family is in a food rut too. They are so afraid of change!

Oh, it's so good to have the chicks back in the nest after they've been gone, isn't it? I'm still waiting for mine to come home (8 more days).

Writing, books, cooking, and friends.....sounds like a great week!

Have a relaxing weekend before going back to work.

Thanks for visiting! Always fun to find moms of all boys and learn some things as mine grow up! I love to read as well, love to search the blogging world and look forward to perusing more of your blog.

Glad you found a silver lining to what could be frustrating.

I love when I have a great book find too. It's like finding a treasure for me.

I'm sure your son was full of stories from his trip. My girl is on a mission trip right now. Even though she doesn't live at home anymore and is an adult I'll still be happy when I know she's safe and sound back in her home. But I love to hear the stories they bring home.

Glad to hear your son arrived home safely - and had a great trip.

I'm curious about your books - I have some great new titles as well. I'm just beginning a novel by Susan Wise Bauer called The Revolt. It looks good.

Happy weekend!

It's great to hear you so motivated on your book. I think I would've used the excuse of non-internet to do something else! Glad your son is back safely and sounds like he had a great time. So are you gonna share those winning recipes?
