Song of the Heart

Friday April 26, 2013

I love music. It lifts my spirits, gets me centered and focused.

There’s another kind of song, though…the song of your heart.

If you’ve been blessed to share your song with someone or get a glimpse of theirs, you know what a godsend that can be. More about that with my quote today…

I’m linking up with Susanne of Living to Tell the Story today for Friday’s Fave Five. Why not join us in recounting the blessings of the week?
My favorites this week:

1. A great lunch buddy. Yeah, you know who you are. I’m so thankful for our friendship.

2. Completion! As of last Saturday, I finished an independent study class. As of this past Tuesday, the bulk of my sophomores’ research papers are graded. Yes!

3. An Aiden story. Aiden is my two-year-old grandson, and earlier this week my son told me that Aiden just may have seen a bit too much of the movie, Prince of Egypt. When tickled by his dad or approached for discipline when he’s misbehaving, Aiden shouts, “Let my people go!”

4. A job!!! My precious daughter-in-law-to-be (less than 2 months away) just landed a full-time teaching job. We are SO excited and proud!

5. A quote:

“To love a person is to learn the song that is in their heart, and to sing it to them when they have forgotten.” (Thomas Chandler)

This lovely quote makes me think of my partner in life. I’m blessed to have a man who has taken the time to learn my song, who encourages me to sing it, and who reminds me of the melody when it’s masked by life.

Wishing you a song this week,

Laura your weekly faves always seem to resonate with me. That quote is one I've used often and I feel the same way about my husband (my best friend) and my female best friend, L.

How adorable Aiden is with shouting that quote! LOL...too cute!!

Praise God for your soon to be daughter in law landing a teaching job.....it's tough times for those of us looking (I'm sort of looking again for that "perfect" Special Ed PreK job but definitely thankful to have my TA one just in case.....). Finding openings in our area is very difficult!! God is good!!
Enjoy your weekend!

What a neat bunch of faves! Love the Aiden story. One time when my oldest was little, and he was out in the sandbox when the wind picked it, he sternly said, "Be still!" as Jesus did when He calmed the storm. Didn't work for him, though. :-) But it was a great moment to point how who Jesus was.

I miss my lunch buddies where we used to live. Haven't found any here yet.

Such a good feeling to have your class and the research papers finished!

Congrats to your soon-to-be d-i-l on her new job!

Love the quote.

I not only love the quote but I absolutely love what you said about it in blue!

Aiden is just too cute! I love that age and the things they say. Hard not to laugh.

I'm so glad you have a husband who sings the song you've forgotten when you need him to. It's great to have a loving partner in life. I'm blessed in that same way, Laura Lee. Oh, and I love your grandson's quote! I'm going to remember that one the next time I'm in a conflict ... "Let my people go!" haha! Now that would shut down any conflict in a flash, I bet!

I still can't believe you're a grandmother! There's no way, my young looking friend. :)

Awe, so cute about your grandson! I love how children do things like that. Love that quote, I never thought of love that way, but its true!

I love #5--someone to remind you when you've forgotten your song.
And YES! I can echo the correcting on compositions/essays being done (I teach for free; they pay me to grade papers!)
Oh Aiden--he's a funny one :)

Oh, such glad fives this week, Laura! And I loved your Aiden story -- he's already finding the joys of quoting movie lines ;-)
