There's a Word on the Tip of My Tongue

Monday January 10, 2011

There’s a word on the tip of my tongue.

It’s been rolling around in my heart and mind for awhile now, and I can’t seem to shake it.

When things are crazy-busy and I’m at the end of my rope, I think of it.
When all is quiet and I’m relishing the hush, it comes to mind.

Most of the time, I long for it.

Balance.

I wrote about it a couple of months ago, and I’ve been craving it lately. I’d imagine most of us have, with the hustle bustle of the holidays.

I hesitate to call it my “word of the year,” but the word balance is going to get a lot of attention from me as I start this new year.

So what about you?

Is there a word on the tip of your tongue? Something you’re thinking about, hoping for, pondering?

I think instead of New Year's Resolutions, we should be coming up with one overarching, less specific idea for the year that we can just keep in mind as we go about our daily lives. You work on it when you can, and there's no guilt if you just don't get to it that week. Balance sounds like a great way to start a new year! Happy 2011!

I think my word would have to be "courage." Lots of changes coming my way this year and I'm hoping to embrace them! Thanks for making me think about it, Laura!
Here's to a year of balance for you, my friend.

I've been pondering what my "word of the year" would be and so far I'm not sure. But like you, balance is a big thing for me right now. Another biggie is acceptance. If I can accept how things are, I can move forward and make the most of our circumstances. There's a lot of possibilities!
I hope you find the balance you're seeking.

Yes...I have a word....."calm". I feel like we (my family) is in for a very hectic year....we have 2 graduations (elementary school and high school), wisdom teeth coming out (my teen), several concerts my youngest is in, dance shows, house repairs, prepping teen for college, the college move, etc. etc. It all seems overwhelming at times (usually late at night!) and I am just trying to leave these things in the Master's Hands and remain CALM! THing on the checklist will get done.....I just need CALM!

Presence.

I didn't pick an offical word of the year...but if I did, that would be it.

Love.

I long for God's love to fill me to overflowing, so this is my year to expect more and more of His love. And love never fails.

Happy New Year, Laura!

Balance is such a great word. Peace is mine for the year, I think. Peace to deal with whatever happens in this life. I'm learning it...slowly!
