31 Days to Rest

Monday October 1, 2012

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
(Matthew 11:27-29)

I don’t know about you, but I need rest. R-e-s-t.

It dawned on me the other day that there are 31 days in October. I remember seeing several blogs that participated in a 31 day blog series last October, and I thought, “How great would that be? To have the discipline to post every day for a month!”

I may be crazy. Fall is such a busy time for me. (I need rest, remember?)

But that’s why I’m writing “31 Days to Rest.” I need it. I plan to delve into different aspects of rest, learn more about it, and hope to pass something along. (If you’ll jump in and comment, I’ll learn from YOU, too! I hope you do.) I’ll be linking up with a bunch of other “31 dayers” found here.

Some of the things I hope to blog about this month? Here’s a tentative list:

Spiritual rest    Physical rest    Rest in the midst of chaos    Rest = Grace
The restless heart    God at rest    Rest in your marriage    Rest and play
Rest in your work    Rest from social media    Rest in motherhood
At rest in nature       Afraid to be a slacker…

I really hope to stick to this “31 day” thing. I’ll do my best to post each day. If I fall short, I’ll still get around to doing 31 posts, even if they show up in November. (I’m sure we’ll all still need rest in November, too.)

So, won’t you come by and rest a bit here every day? And chime in – I want to learn from your experiences and discoveries. We’ll rest together.

I'm also joining Laura, Jen, and Michelle today.

I like that you are giving yourself the freedom to finish in November, if needed. YOU just may need that rest from the 31 Days of Rest!

I am glad to not do a 31 series this year ... I will have time to read some of the great series ... like yours.

Fondly,

Rest. Love that you are giving yourself until November if you need it. Glad to have found you through Nester’s link up. I’m looking forward to what you have to share. I am blogging “I Wear Pink”. Please stop by.

Oh how awesome! i simply CANNOT participate in the 31 days thing...October just demands way too much of me....it's a busy month for the ministry I lead, work, extracurriculars...BUT..i have written OFTEN about rest. I totally believe in it, and do it EVERY.SINGLE.DAY (not the nap kind...just the "me" sitting quietly kind.....for spiritual AND physical rest).....I LOVE all the topics you are going to center on and I'll definitely be back...at least a few times a week! I can't wait to read your thoughts!!

I found you through the Nester and I absolutely love your topic. As a mom of almost 4, I need to learn to rest! :)
I am writing about "all things children"- we'll see if I can make it through all 31 days. :)

You've chosen a great topic. Good for you, attempting to post for 31 days. That's not possible for me at this time, but maybe someday. Good luck!

I agree with the other voices here, Laura--rest is a sweet topic to post on. It really is a discipline, isn't it? Looking forward to reading about how you slow down this month, my friend.
