Returning to my Source

Ever wish you could go back to the beginning?

Find newness, rediscover joy?

My #5 today, a quote reminds me how to get there…

I’m joining Friday’s Fave Five again today to recount the blessings of the week. Won’t you take a moment to count yours, too?

My favorites this week:

1. An opportunity for my son. My youngest, a college senior, is on his way to Sochi to work on the Olympics broadcast. I’ve ever-so-excited for him, and a wee bit concerned, as any mom would be, I think. What an opportunity! He’ll be there for three weeks, so if any of you would like to join me in prayer, I’d sure appreciate it. Praying for safety and an great experience.

2. Faithfulness! God’s, that is. When my son and daughter-in-law embarked on the adoption adventure, the funding seemed an insurmountable barrier. But God had other ideas, and He has helped them get closer and closer…and now it all seems so real and so possible. All the paperwork is now in India (all six pounds of their dossier), and they’re waiting for a referral. That can take up to a year, but it could happen at any time. I’m asking for sooner rather than later—but our times are in His hands.

3. Fun with students. This was Winter Court week, and the kids (and teachers) have been dressing up along with the themes of each day. Tuesday was Teacher Clone Day, and yes, I had one (minus the red hair). We planned our outfits—it was fun!

4. Working on another web home. I’m working with the greatest designer on a web landing page and personal blog. I’ll still be posting here, too, though. She’s the best! And if you want to check out deals on the latest Christian fiction for your Nook or Kindle, she runs The Vessel Project. It’s a great thing!

*Bonus: My hubby is planning a little getaway for the two of us. I can’t wait!
*Bonus #2: We saw The Book Thief last weekend. What a poignant, thought-provoking movie.

5. This quote:

”The yearning to know what cannot be known, to comprehend the incomprehensible, to touch and taste the unapproachable, arises from the image of God in the nature of man. Deep calleth unto deep, and though polluted and landlocked by the mighty disaster theologians call the Fall, the soul senses its origin and longs to return to its source.” (A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy)

Deep calleth unto deep…isn’t that lovely?

But the best part to me is that “the soul senses its origin and longs to return to its source.”

I know I do.

Thankful for the longing,

Great to see you again this week! You always have such great things to share! Your schools idea of teacher clone day sounds fun! I will tell my daughter about it so they can add it to their Court Week in the future!
Being in prayer with you for your son as he travels. As you said, God is faithful!
Adoption is a wonderful thing. We have two from the US and my sister in law has one from India. US is for sure a quicker process but not always for the best.
Yay! for your bonuses!

A great quote to ponder.
What an interesting opportunity for your son to go to Sochi. Praying right now for his safety while there. My brother and his wife are in process to adopt a 4 year old boy from the Ukraine. Boy the expenses are mind boggling. They are trusting in the whole process and we hope everything will work out. We keep watching the turmoil in Kiev and hope the adoption isn't effected by it. How fun to look forward to a getaway...

What an exciting opportunity for your son! I do hope it is safe and a growing experience- I'm sure it will be a once-in-a-lifetime memory! :o)

How exciting for your son and daughter-in-law! As an adoptive mom, I identify with the trials of finding patience and faithfulness in God's timing. :o) I'll be praying for a speedy referral!

How exciting for your son! It's an experience not many get to have! So excited for your son and daughter too. Praying this next step goes very quickly!

I've been wanting to see that movie. I'll have to see if the video on demand has it yet. The book is also on my TBR list.

A deep quote - from a weighty book.

I'm praying for your boy. May the Lord keep him, bless him and give him such a wonderful adventure!

The adoption road is a long and hard one - much more difficult than most 8 mos pregnancies. Praying that things go smoothly and their hearts' desires arrive soon.

Have the fun of a trip is the anticipation - enjoy!!

So glad you mentioned The Book Thief! I have almost forgotten that I wanted to watch that in the hype of the recent holidays. What a great adventure for your son.

AW Tozer states it so well, doesn't he?

Hurray for your #3 son's adventure. When mine head out on yet another journey, I just have to smile and give them my blessing. (Best advice I ever received from an older missionary colleague--Don't ever let them see you cry as you say goodbye)

And Hurray for the adoption process going forward!
