The Simplest of Pleasures

Thursday April 28, 2011

A nap.

Sweet sleep.

A few moments of respite in a busy day. That's my simple pleasure.

Resolved to write about those moments, I searched for a photo. I found the perfect one.

My son and his son. Sweet sleep.

"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted in the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46:10)

He said that all in one breath -- be still, and I will be exalted. Our stillness, our calm exalts Him. Our peace draws attention to our Source.

I need to remember that. A simple pleasure for me, that brings pleasure and honor to Him.

Rest.

I remember these moments when my children were small, and my hubby will cuddle with them in the easy chair to take a nap.

They knew daddy was ready and so were they :)

Just precious - thank you for sharing.

Laura, this post is a picture of peace and stillness and calm. I agree. Perfect. Thanks so much for linking up today. I needed the message here.

First of all, the photo is perfectly beautiful -- love that sweet child's peaceful face!

And secondly, yes we are indeed on the same page today [sorry you had trouble with Disqus...honestly I am a bit befuddled by it, too!].

Thanks for including the full verse. I always stop at the be still and know part. What richness to read the rest of it! And that photo? It brings tears to my eyes. Seriously.

Great picture.
I love the pictures I have of my hubby and any of our three kids cuddled together and naping.

They are the best pitcures!

Such a sweet photo. A framed print would make a great Father's Day present for your "boy!" (I saw in your Friday's post, you asked if you would ever start calling them that. I doubt it. I still say "my girls."
