A Fall Friday: Friday's Fave Five

Friday October 14, 2011

Can you name five blessings from your week? Susanne from Living to Tell the Story hosts Friday’s Fave Five each week. Click on over and see her if you’d like to join in!

Here are my favorites for the past week:

1. A reprint.
Laity Lodge Family Camp contacted me this summer about reprinting one of my posts, Balcony or Basement, for their newsletter. It came out last week, and it was nice to see that on my little screen.

2. My surprise. After ten clues about my birthday surprise, I got to guess, and I was right. We’re off to visit Key West. It’s not far away, and we’ve never been. Looking forward to seeing Hemingway’s house, some historical museums, and a few beautiful sunsets. I love most of all that this was my hubby’s invention—all on his own.

3. A great fruit market. We’ve discovered this nice little fruit market not far from home. The black plums are just awesome, the tomatoes tasty, and the green beans so much nicer than those in the grocery store. Our new favorite place.

4. A classic storybook. As I’ve mentioned before, my class is reading The Tempest. I picked up several resources at the public library to help in that process, and I found the most beautiful storybook that tells the story of The Tempest. The pictures are lovely and the phrasing elegant but easy to understand. I love it. I’ll be shopping for more books like this for my Grandmom shelf!

5. A quote:

“You don’t really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around—and why his parents will always wave back.”
(William D. Tammeus)

The mystery of human nature, all tied up in the parent-child relationship. Sweet, huh?

Hope you have a happy, cozy fall week!

Have a great time in Key West! And go, hubby, for initiating it all himself!

Love the Tammeus quote. Very sweet. Been there, done that. And hope to do it again with the next generation. :-)

Have a wonderful time at Key West! I've never been there either. Maybe you could share some photos, later?

I agree, the nicest part is that your hubby came up with the idea himself!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And what a great guy your hubby is for planning all of that....I"m jealous about the Hemingway House...my hubby would LOVE that....as would my oldest...My youngest hasn't yet gotten into Hemingway altho guess what?? she was accepted into the Advanced English 7 course....and loves it. she DOESN'T like the extra hour of HW it entails but...she loves the more challenging books....
ok, i just realized i wrote way too much for a FFF comment! lol...sorry.
The quote is awesome, too! love it.
have a blessed weekend, laura!

I distinctly remember that balcony vs. basement post, Laura -- one of my absolute favorites of yours!

Have fun in Key West -- I love that place (and this is a great time of year to visit). Try to have lunch at Louie's Backyard -- such a beautiful view and great food (kind of expensive though -- that's why I suggest lunch!).
