Seeking Glory

Who doesn’t like a pat on the back?

An accolade or two, a nice review.

A healthy number of comments and a bank of followers.

I was searching for a verse about giving glory to God, and I sure found one. It hit me right in the heart.

In John 5, Jesus has healed a man on the Sabbath and the Jews are stirred up. He tells them about how John the Baptist witnessed of Him, how the Father is a witness of Him, how His own works and scripture tell us all about who He really is.

And then He drops this:

“How can you believe, when you receive glory from one another and you do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God?" (John 5:44)

We receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that is from the one and only God.

Indicted. Guilty.

But with His help, restored.

Help me seek Your glory, Lord.

Ugghh.. I wish I could say I can't relate, but I KNOW I am guilty of wanting a "bit of the glory" when it all belongs to Him. Easy to say but difficult to live. Thanks for the tough words of truth today. Stopping over from SDG
