Big. Really big.

Monday March 4, 2013

The speaker asked a compelling question:

“How big is your God?

What is He really capable of?”

I wonder about my “stuff”—problems, heartaches, seemingly unsolvable situations.

Can He fix those things? Will He?

My stuff looms large. So large that it blocks a true picture of what God really is.

HE is everything.
And my stuff? It’s just stuff.

How do I know?

“Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket…” (Isaiah 40:12)

When we see God as big as He is, we can trust Him—with the big and small of life.

“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.

Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, ‘My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God’?

Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.” (Isaiah 26-28)

My stuff? It’s all blown out of proportion.

In reality, it’s miniscule in the face of a God who “held the dust of the earth in a basket.”

He’s huge.
He can handle it.

I love this, Laura. Sometimes I forget that if God can take care of the big stuff, of course he can also take care of the little stuff.

Oh, yes! When we focus on and realize just how big our God is, all that "stuff" seems so small in comparison. I resonate with this, Laura Lee and am encouraged by your wise words. Thanks so much for this challenge and for your tender heart toward God!

Great post Mom! We know it, but the question is, do we live like it? I know I struggle to live like God is big...thanks for reminding me today.

It is the "stuff" I have such a problem leaving with Him...Thanks.

Sometimes, I am guilty of making my God too small. I think that's a book by Mark Buchanon, isn't it? Your God is Too Small. Maybe I need to read that one :). Cause I let my stuff is get too big. Shame on me.
